DVP Testing Introdunction

Performance Testing

  • Functional Durability Testing:
    Conducts repetitive operational tests on seat adjustment functions (e.g., fore-aft adjustment, height adjustment, backrest angle adjustment) to verify long-term reliability and stability. For example, adjustment operations are performed at specified frequencies and cycles to detect issues such as sticking or loosening.

  • Functional Operability Testing:
    Evaluates the ease and comfort of seat function operations, including assessing appropriate operating force, reasonable travel ranges, and ergonomic placement of buttons or handles. For instance, measurements are taken to ensure the maximum force required for seat adjustment falls within a human-comfortable operating range.

  • Comfort Testing:
    Combines subjective evaluations and objective measurements to assess seat comfort. Subjective evaluations involve testers of varying body types and preferences providing feedback on softness, support, and contouring. Objective measurements utilize instruments like pressure distribution testers to analyze pressure distribution across the seat surface and evaluate uniformity of support.

Dimensional and Structural Testing

  • Dimensional Measurement Testing:
    Precisely measures critical dimensions such as seat length, width, height, cushion depth, and backrest angle to ensure compliance with design specifications and vehicle installation requirements. For example, cushion width is verified to meet minimum standards for comfortable occupancy.

  • Seat Strength and Regulatory Compliance Testing:
    Performs strength tests (e.g., static and dynamic strength tests) in accordance with relevant regulations and standards to validate seat performance during normal driving and extreme conditions (e.g., collisions), ensuring adequate occupant support and protection.

Material and Environmental Testing

  • Seat Material Testing:
    Evaluates the performance of seat materials (fabrics, foams, leather, etc.) through tests for abrasion resistance, scratch resistance, air permeability, and flame retardancy. For example, fabric abrasion tests simulate daily friction from clothing to detect pilling or damage.

  • Environmental Adaptability Testing:
    Includes tests for high/low temperatures, thermal shock, and humidity. For instance, in high-temperature testing, seats are exposed to elevated temperatures to assess material deformation, fading, or cracking. Low-temperature testing evaluates material performance (e.g., brittleness) in cold conditions.

  • Chemical Substance Testing:
    Conforms to environmental and safety standards by screening for prohibited substances (e.g., ELV-restricted materials, flame retardants, phthalate plasticizers, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, asbestos, SVHC) in seat materials.
